How Tool Permissions Work

The Two-Level System

Connecting tools to Spinnable works in two steps: Step 1: Connect to Your Account
  • Go to Settings → Toolbox → Add Tool
  • Authenticate with the service (OAuth or API key)
  • This makes the tool available to grant to workers
Step 2: Grant to Specific Workers
  • Go to a worker’s settings → Tools
  • Select which tools they can access
  • Choose specific permissions (read-only, full access, etc.)
Common mistake: Connecting a tool to your account doesn’t automatically give workers access. You must grant it to each worker individually.

Authentication Types

OAuth 2.0 (Most Tools)

One-click authentication—sign in with your existing account. We never see your password. Examples: Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, GitHub, HubSpot, Salesforce

API Key (Specialized Tools)

Copy your API key from the service and paste it into Spinnable. Examples: Gandi, Factorial HR, Ghost CMS, Duffel, Gamma
You can revoke access to any tool at any time through Settings → Toolbox or directly in the service’s account settings.
